PrinterOn Powers Mobile Printing at UK Airports
Spectrum Interactive has announced a very successful 2010 for its innovative, public printing solution ‘PrintSpectrum’ – particularly within the UK airport sector with 130,000 pages printed last year. Launched in 2009, PrintSpectrum enables users to print directly from Spectrum Interactive internet kiosks, as well as from any internet enabled devices ranging from laptops to handhelds including BlackBerry, Android and iPhone.

Users can print all manner of documents including emails, attachments and web content simply by sending their print request to a printer specific email address or URL. A unique PIN code is then displayed or emailed, which when entered on the printer’s 22” touchscreen interface retrieves the print job. The user can then pay by credit/debit cards or with coin. The job is then released to print, and when completed the print file is permanently deleted from the print server ensuring total privacy.

PrintSpectrum is currently installed at 26 airport locations across the country including Heathrow (all terminals), Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow, with passengers primarily using the service to print boarding passes or other important travel documentation.

“2010 was a fantastic year for PrintSpectrum,” commented Daniel Gray, director of Spectrum’s travel division. “Our internet kiosk and WiFi offerings have been extremely popular with the UK travel industry since they were launched, and our public printing service is just another example of how we continually innovate to develop new added- value solutions. PrintSpectrum gives clients the ability to set their own pricing models, and as we have seen, in the last year this has become a key passenger service, and provided an important new revenue stream for many of our airport partners,” he added.

The PrintSpectrum service is also currently being trialled at key airport locations at Premier Inn and Travelodge hotels including London City, Heathrow and Manchester.
